Sheep n Cows

The sheep weren't getting much attention as all the proper photographers were focussed on a tired nearby red fox (when the puppies finally fell asleep, she tiptoed out of her den for a nap in the grass.). I didn't believe the sheep were bighorns since the ones we saw previously (in the South Dakota Badlands) with short dark brown coats. Only when I looked at the photos did I notice that these were starting to moult into those same smart summer coats.

The bison were everywhere. My guess is that this is because of the plentiful fresh green spring grass. Later in the year it gets very dry so perhaps they have to move cluster into the big valleys. Or is it that the bulls round them up?
