This is some local blossom spotted while wandering round our neighbourhood in Kamakura. Maybe an almond or peach, it is not one of the more common ume (plum) or cherry.

The famous cherry trees lining Wakamiya-oji in Kamakura are at the heavy-budding stage. They should be looking good next weekend. The lanterns are already up. Various businesses advertise on the lanterns. ...But wtf's a Turtoise!?! We should have realised: turtle x tortoise=turtoise.

End of year parties are so much more fun in Japan (than those I experienced in the UK at least): no one is the boss anymore, everyone makes a big effort to be nice, and all agree to act ridiculously inebriated after only one or two beers, or even just an iced tea.

Most Japanese dogs have to wear clothes. Even very furry dogs in very hot summers. I don't know this man; he spontaneously picked up his dog and posed under the sakura (near the entrance of Hachimangu, Kamakura).
